Roar & Soar: Eclipse Extravaganza at San Antonio Zoo

Get ready for a wildly exciting day at San Antonio Zoo on October 14, 2023! The zoo is hosting a full day of activities centered around witnessing the awe-inspiring spectacle of an annular solar eclipse, famously known as the “ring of fire.” As the moon steps between Earth and the Sun, it will create a mesmerizing halo around itself. San Antonio Zoo is directly in the eclipse path, making it a preferred location to watch the annular solar eclipse. The festivities begin at 10:00 a.m., with the annular solar eclipse starting at 11:52 a.m. The zoo will provide guests with special viewing glasses as the lunar magic unfolds in an exhilarating 4-minute climax!
But our Annular Solar Eclipse Extravaganza isn’t just about stargazing. We have a herd of fun and educational activities planned throughout the day. Learn more about our nocturnal animals, how the moon’s cycles impact their behavior, and even assist us in conducting ethograms, a fascinating technique used to study animal behavior. You’ll get a chance to play researcher for the day, contributing to our understanding of our furry, feathery, and scaly residents.
So, mark your calendars, and join us for a day of astronomical wonder and animal enchantment. Let’s roar and soar together at the Eclipse Extravaganza!
