San Antonio Zoo is open rain or shine unless the severity of the weather poses a threat to the safety of our guests and staff. If we do close due to inclement weather we will post the news on our website and San Antonio Zoo’s social media accounts. We do not offer refunds due to inclement weather, however, we can reschedule your tickets.

Please note, some of our experiences may be an additional charge. Also, animal experiences are not guaranteed due to inclement weather or animal availability. Masks may be required for Behind-the-Scene experiences.
San Antonio Zoo has gone digital with its admission ticketing! Lines to purchase tickets at San Antonio Zoo are a thing of the past. Tickets can be purchased here.
However, cash assistance will be available to our guests if needed.
Yes, San Antonio Zoo offers a $5 discount on our Standard Admission Ticket to active duty, retired, and veteran members of the military, national guard, and reserves.

Yes, San Antonio Zoo offers a $5 discount on our Standard Admission Ticket to seniors, ages 65 and older.

San Antonio Zoo is a part of the AZA Reciprocal Program. To redeem this discount, guests must visit a Zoo Crew Team Member at the Guest Services on the day of their visit to show proof of their zoo and/or aquarium membership.
Know Before You Go
In keeping with our family-friendly atmosphere, and for health and safety reasons, San Antonio Zoo strictly enforces a dress code. Proper attire must be worn at all times, including shirts and appropriate footwear.
Clothing or tattoos with offensive language or graphics are not permitted at any time.
Examples of clothing not permitted are those displaying:

- Support for drugs and drug use
- Gang symbols
- Promotion of discrimination against any group

Admission may be denied if clothing or tattoos are deemed to be inappropriate by management and the Guest refuses all reasonable options. Shirts cannot be turned inside out as a solution.
Due to space limitations, we cannot store the personal property of guests during their zoo visit. That includes:
- Bikes
- Strollers
- Scooters
- Coolers
- Personal wheelchairs
- Toy weapons
- Roller blades
- Skateboards
- Balloons
- Balls
- Motorcycle helmets
- Luggage
- Food items
- Motorized toys
- Car seats
You are welcome to bring your own strollers. In order to make your visit to San Antonio Zoo as enjoyable as possible, we also offer the following rentals:

Yes, Starbucks products are allowed at the Zoo.
For everyone’s health and enjoyment, we maintain a smoke-free environment, including e-cigarettes.
Public parking areas are located in and around Brackenridge Park and the new Zoo Parking Garage! The Zoo Parking Garage is located in between the zoo and Will Smith Zoo School. Parking at the garage is free during zoo business hours.
San Antonio Zoo does not participate in the Lone Star card or EBT discount programs.
Outside food or drink is not allowed into the zoo. Exceptions are: bottled water, baby food, and formula. Ice chests, coolers, and ice bags are not allowed on zoo grounds.
*School groups will still be allowed to bring in lunches for their classes.
Guests to San Antonio Zoo are asked to claim or report lost items at Guest Relations located by our ticket booths. Guest can also email San Antonio Zoo at [email protected] to inquire about a lost items. Kiddie Park ride attendants are not responsible for articles left on ride platforms. San Antonio Zoo is not responsible for lost or damaged articles.
For the safety of our guests, zoo crew, and animals, our Zoo Ranger team reserves the right to inspect packages, bags and containers at Entry Point.
For the safety of other zoo guests and our animals, glass containers, weapons, alcohol, bikes, scooters, skates and skateboards, rollerblades, radios/CD players, whistles, and inflatable objects are not allowed on zoo grounds.
Trained Service Animals are welcome at the San Antonio Zoo and required to check in upon entry. A member of the Guest Experience Team will assist all Guests and Service Animals at the entrance of the zoo with the check in process. Animals that do not meet the definition of a Service Animal per Title II and III of the ADA will not be permitted in the zoo. Service Animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the Service Animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. If a Service Animal becomes a disruption or is unable to remain under control, they could be excluded or removed from the zoo.
Yes, San Antonio Zoo is proud to be a Sensory Inclusive Certified location, partnering with KultureCity® to ensure a comfortable and accommodating experience for guests with sensory needs. Visitors can check out a complimentary Sensory Bag from our Guest Services building, which includes noise-canceling headphones, a communication cue card, VIP lanyard, and various fidget items. A valid ID is required for the daily rental of these bags.
San Antonio Zoo is committed to ensuring all guests have a memorable and comfortable visit. Our facilities include Universal Changing Stations for adults and children requiring assistance, conveniently located at H-E-B Plaza and Kronkosky’s Tiny Tot Nature Spot. These stations are designed to meet the needs of all our visitors, providing a safe and hygienic space for personal care.
Yes, for guests seeking mobility support, we offer both manual wheelchair and ECV rentals on a first-come, first-served basis. These can be rented near the entrance of the zoo. We recommend arriving early to secure a rental, as they are subject to availability. Our pathways are designed to be wheelchair-friendly, ensuring all guests can enjoy the zoo’s exhibits and attractions comfortably. Personal mobility devices are permitted but must not have the capability to exceed 4 mph.

Your security is crucial to us. To better protect your account, we do require your photo or your child’s to associate with the digital membership card. Since the membership or annual pass is non-transferable, this acts as an extra security measure should to prevent misuse.
