Spekboom Lodge is a private suite that can accommodate up to four guests. It has a main bedroom with a king bed, two twin beds, a living area, a kitchenette, and an outdoor patio. During your stay, you’ll get:
- Exclusive access to the zoo for two hours after it closes and one hour before it opens.
- Complimentary access to zoo attractions, including Zootennial Carousel and Zoo Train.
- Free access to animal encounters, including Giraffe Feeding, the John & Greli Less Butterfly Rainforest, Kangaroo Krossing, and Lory Landing.
- An exclusive one-hour guided tour of the zoo with a staff member.

Other Overnight Stay Options
In addition to the luxurious Spekboom Lodge, San Antonio Zoo offers a variety of other overnight experiences to suit diverse preferences, group sizes, and budgets, highlighting the Zoo’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. Options include Zoo Lights Overnights, available on Fridays and Saturdays from November 16 through December for as low as $65 per person, and Roars & Snores, held Fridays and Saturdays from January to October for as low as $65 per person, with a $15 upgrade to sleep in Africa Live! Hippo Viewing, home to Timothy and Uma. Both experiences can be curated for as few as ten people and promise unforgettable adventures featuring animal encounters and engaging activities.
We had an amazing time at the Spekboom Lodge; it is such a unique experience! Seeing the giraffes, zebras and ostriches up close at nighttime was so cool, and we loved wandering around the Zoo after it closed to the public and before it opened; the animals were so active at night and in the early morning, and we loved all the animal experiences included in our visit. The customer service was wonderful and we will definitely go back again!

Staying at the Spekboom Lodge was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. The accommodations were beautiful and the views overlooking Naylor Savanna are magical. The staff taking care of us during our stay were extremely responsive. Every single member of the zoo staff we talked with were kind and enthusiastic. Wandering the zoo during the extended hours was one of the best parts of our stay. The animals were active and it is clear just how much love and care goes into making sure they are happy. We were able to meet their newest giraffe, Waffles, during our barn tour and never felt rushed for time. We were also able to catch sight of the hyenas being active at night, which was amazing! This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and we feel so lucky to have been able to stay at the Lodge. We would highly recommend this experience for anyone and hope to come back for another stay some day!

My family and I made unforgettable memories during our stay at Spekboom Lodge. Having the time to really connect with the animals and with one another was priceless. The lodge itself is clean and lovely. It was an absolutely amazing experience to have the views of giraffes, zebras, and ostriches out our windows! We loved that our stay included animal encounters with birds, butterflies, kangaroos, and giraffes. Plus, the private access to the zoo after closing and before opening was really special.
