Get up close and personal with one of nature’s largest (and cutest) rodents during this exclusive 30-minute experience feeding our Capybaras!
These adorable, docile rodents are only found in the forests and rivers of South & Central America. During your experience, you’ll learn about this extremely social animal and the integral role they play as a keystone species for South America’s wetlands.
It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet our capybaras, see their personalities up close, and leave with an unforgettable memory.
Program Details:
Arrive at the Animal Connections counter across from the Carousel 30 minutes prior to your experience to check-in.
There is a max capacity for this experience in groups of 6. Spots fil up fast, so book now!
Available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 1:15 p.m.
Admission to San Antonio Zoo is separate and required for entry.

Prepare for your Adventure
The Behind-the-Scenes Capybara experience lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.
- Admission to San Antonio Zoo is separate and required for entry.
- The Behind-the-Scenes tour fee is non-refundable, but tours will be rescheduled when possible if necessary.
- Arrive at the Animal Connections counter (across from the Carousel) 30 minutes before your scheduled experience.
- Guests arriving 15 minutes or later after the start of the experience will not be admitted.
- Each Behind-the-Scenes: Capybara experience is limited to 4 participants per group.
- Children 15 years and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Closed-toe shoes are required for safety purposes.
- No service animals are allowed behind the scenes.
- Experiences may be canceled or modified due to inclement weather, animal health, or safety concerns.
- Program times, prices, components, and animal participation are subject to change.
