The world has become aware of the fires and heat that are ravaging many parts of Australia. Because the fires are still burning we don’t yet know what loss of wildlife will ultimately be, but we do know it will be staggering. San Antonio Zoo’s vision is “securing a future for wildlife” and just as we did during Hurricane Harvey, at both the Houston Downtown Aquarium and the Texas Zoo in Victoria, Texas we are ready to assist our Australian colleagues in their efforts to rescue and care for animals affected by the disaster.
Through our passion and expertise in animal care, conservation, and education, the zoo’s mission is to inspire its community to (L.E.A.P.) Love, Engage with, Act for and Protect animals and the places they live. Now is the time to turn this inspiration into action!
We continue to work with our zoological peers both in Australia and across the United States. We are now preparing to send veterinary staff to Australia to assist with the efforts of Taronga Zoo, helping animals affected by wildfires. Your gift to San Antonio Zoo’s Australia Wildlife Fund will help us provide the critical staff and supplies needed for rescue, recovery and care of animals injured or orphaned in the Australia wildfires.
Donations large and small can help make a difference. San Antonio Zoo is matching the first $5,000 donated to San Antonio Zoo’s Australia Wildlife Fund.
