San Antonio Zoo Unveils Sensory-Friendly Zoo & Holiday Magic with Inclusive Experiences for All
San Antonio Zoo is delighted to announce a sensory-friendly holiday experience, Sensory-Friendly Hours at San Antonio Zoo, during the day and during Zoo Lights, Powered by CPS Energy, to provide a quieter and more inclusive experience for all visitors. On Tuesday, December 10, and Tuesday, December 17, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., this unique event will feature a range of accommodations designed to ensure that all individuals, including those with sensory sensitivities, can enjoy a combo experience featuring the wonders of the zoo during the day as well as the magic of Zoo Lights in the evening.
In collaboration with KultureCity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating sensory-inclusive environments, San Antonio Zoo has implemented various measures to make the event more accessible. These include designated quiet zones and headphone zones throughout the zoo, allowing visitors to find calm and peace when needed. Additionally, Sensory Bags containing noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and verbal cue cards will be available for checkout at the Zoo Entrance with a valid I.D. In addition to these offerings, the zoo will provide curated sensory-friendly activities, including sensory bins, felt trees, and scented activities.
Sensory-Friendly Hours at San Antonio Zoo promises quieter music, limited flashing lights, and additional quiet areas, creating a more comfortable environment for those seeking a sensory-friendly experience.
