How do I get started?
We recognize that this type of planning can be considerable. As such, we welcome our prospective donors to contact San Antonio Zoo Development office’s Planned Giving Officer to assist you in formulating a plan of action to execute your gift. Age, contribution amounts and the particulars of your assets are all aspects to consider when devising a plan. San Antonio Zoo’s development department is here to assist you in learning about our capital plans, current and future planned developments, areas of need and our Master plan.

I’m not ready to make a gift at this time and part with my assets, is there an option to give one in the future?
There are a variety of different ways to include a gift to San Antonio Zoo in your estate plan, many of which do not require you to part with assets today. Contact our Planned Giving Officer to explore your giving options.
I have read about the opportunity to pass on retirement assets as a gift, how does that process work and how do I designate San Antonio Zoo as a beneficiary?
Contact your retirement plan administrator for a change-of-beneficiary form. Name San Antonio Zoo as beneficiary, then sign, date and return the form to your provider. If they have the option, use their online option to make account changes. You can find our address, Federal Tax ID number and other relevant information below.
Does San Antonio Zoo have someone I can visit with to discuss my giving options and future benefits?
We recognize not everyone who wants to give is prepared to do so now. We are happy to walk you through the process and work with your planning team to help you find the best gift option. Charitable Gift Annuity
Receive lifetime payments as well as tax savings while you support your zoo. Transfer cash or securities to San Antonio Zoo, and receive fixed annuity payments for life
Charitable Remainder Trust
Give a gift of cash, securities, or real estate to fund a trust that provides you income and names San Antonio Zoological Society as the remainder beneficiary.

Animal Hospital
San Antonio Zoo is pleased to announce that plans are underway for a much needed expansion to our animal hospital. The expansion includes a new surgical unit, pharmacy and lab and will add 1,054 square feet to the existing 2,658 square feet animal hospital.

Train
Since 1956, the San Antonio Zoo Eagle, formerly known as the Brackenridge Eagle, has chugged along the tracks skirting the banks of the San Antonio River as it makes its way through one of San Antonio’s most popular parks. We are currently fundraising for three trains.

Conservation
Wildlife conservation and education are at the forefront for San Antonio Zoo’s Department of Conservation and Research. Your support ensures the success of critical Wildlife Conservation Programs, to secure populations of endangered wildlife and protect vanishing wild places.

Project Selva
San Antonio Zoo’s Center For Conservation and Research is working with indigenous communities in the upper Amazon Basin of Peru to help provide a continuous revenue stream . Indigenous families make and export their handmade crafts where they are sold in our zoo gift shops.

Wildlife Champions
A Wildlife Champion is a level of involvement for our most dedicated, philanthropic patrons who have a deep sense of responsibility in protecting endangered wildlife while enhancing the quality of San Antonio Zoo.

Honorarium
Honor the special people in your life or celebrate a special occasion – birthday, anniversary, or wedding – with a gift to the zoo in their honor. San Antonio Zoo will send acknowledgement of your gift to the recipient.

Memorial
A memorial gift to San Antonio Zoo is a heartfelt way to pay tribute to a friend, colleague, mentor, or loved one while supporting the zoo’s mission of securing a future for wildlife. When you make a memorial or tribute donation you will receive a receipt for your gift.

Texas Blind Salamander
San Antonio Zoo is thrilled to announce the first-ever successful hatching of three Texas blind salamanders in its lab at the Center for Conservation and Research (CCR). Texas blind salamanders are listed as an endangered species by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and live only in the San Marcos pool of the Edwards Aquifer.
