Outdoor Activity of the Month

Join the San Antonio Zoo each month as we team up with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Texas Partnership for Children in Nature for the Outdoor Activity of the Month.

August: Swimming

Want your kids to be HAPPY, HEALTHY and SMART? Get them playing outside!

GET OUTSIDE and swim, splash and explore... Summer would not be the same without it. Want to know what's more fun than swimming? Swimming in nature of course.

Did you know the Zoo has two outdoor water play areas, specially designed for kids 5 and younger? A shallow campground stream is the perfect place to float leaves, cool off and explore. Want to splash and swim and build? Check out the Riverbank. At less than 2 feet deep, this area is an ideal water play spot for young children. Both areas are well shaded by large cypress and oak trees.

But don't stop with a visit to the Zoo, visit one of our many local swimming areas. With all the rains this spring many Texas lakes, rivers and swimming holes are full and ready to be explored. Find 30 days worth of swimming adventures on the Texas Children in Nature website.

Hurry and swim. School will be here before you know it.
