Open Year 'Round!

As of January 1, 2014, outside food or drink is no longer allowed into the Zoo. Exceptions are: bottled water, small snack-sized items, and baby food and formula. Ice chests and coolers are no longer allowed on Zoo grounds. *School groups will still be allowed to bring in lunches for their classes.

Service Animal Policy

Service animals are welcome on Zoo grounds under the care of their owner. The San Antonio Zoo asks that all guests with service animals check in with our Guest Experience office (located at the main entrance to the right of the ticket booths) for a check-in process. We also ask that service animals remain on a leash under their owner's control, and to display a service animal indicator vest at all times.

For the safety of our guests, team members, and animal collection, the Zoo restricts access to the following locations: Fun Farm, the Hixon Bird House, Amazonia aviary, Africal Live! aviary, Pre-school yard, the Nature Spot Riverbank, and any other areas where zoo animals will be in full contact with service animals.
