The DEEPEND Consortium is a team of scientists who will study the deep-pelagic Gulf of Mexico to learn about the animals that live there and their environment.  Their studies will give us baseline information to help determine the impacts from natural disturbances and those caused by humans.  Dante Fenolio, the San Antonio Zoo's Director of Conservation is taking part in this study.
